Let’s face it, everything is always easier said than done.
Today turned into tomorrow. Tomorrow turned into next week. Next week turned into next month. And next month turned into…well, today. The reality is that life happens and in the midst of it all, we decide what should and shouldn’t be prioritized. The logistics of it all, the timing. Who’s to say when you should start? For me, blogging wasn’t at the top of my list for many months (…years). I gave it a shot some time ago but had no rhyme or reason to what I was publishing. All I knew was that I loved taking pictures and I loved having an outlet to express my thoughts, showcase my work, and share the snippets of my life.
But it never quite felt right.
Was it the fear of judgement? Fear of failure? Fear of hating it and falling flat on my face? If we’re being honest, it was all of the above and just a tad bit more. It all seems so simple until you find that you’ve hopped onto a life-sized (nonexistent) hamster wheel. You’re running round and round until you come to the realization that you’re getting nowhere. You’re in the same spot, doing the same thing with little to no gratification.
I am a perfectionist to the core. For the longest time, I was stuck in the perfect is better than done mindset. It took time, patience (with myself), and a little bit of courage to let go of that weight on my shoulder.
Done is better than perfect.
I sit here wondering where this journey will take me. Will I learn to love it? Will it be beneficial for me as well as others? Will my smile be a little bigger every time I hit ‘Publish’? I know there will be days where I have no idea what to blog about and days where I don’t have the motivation to write. Days where I doubt myself and days where I’ll sit and wonder if anyone has read my most recent post.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
The trials and tribulations will come but I will continue to type and tell my stories.
This blog will push me to do better and it will knock me out of my comfort zone. The perfect platform for me to write about who I am, my loved ones, my life, photography, and the amazing people I have crossed paths with because of it.
Here’s to journeys, old and new.
